Camp Iron Sights' Summer Adventure Camp is a very unique camp for young men ages 14-19.
The camp focuses on personalized self-growth while providing a true Alaskan Wilderness Experience. Personalized Self-Growth
Maker - Teaching youth how to become the best version of themselves and living successful lives. We do this through Leadership lessons in Association, Courage, the Power of Thought, Commitment, Vision, Perseverance, Seeking Wisdom, Personal Responsibility, Relate-ability, Having a Decided Heart, Being a Person of Action, and Choosing to be Happy. Giver - Teaching youth how to be good, moral people that will add value to their community and help others. We do this through lessons in Servant Hood, Example, Family Values, Forgiveness, Faith, Character, Integrity, Honesty, Association, and Respect. REAL Man - Teaching the youth what it means to be a R.E.A.L. Man - Reject passivity, Expect the greater reward, Accept responsibility, and Lead courageously. Wilderness Experience The above lessons take root because of the remote Alaskan wilderness setting and the counselors that truly care for each one of the campers. Each of the above listed positive life lessons are realized through the following hands on activities. Horsemanship, Archery, Gun Safety, Canoeing, Hiking, Campfires, Wilderness Survival, Overnight at a Remote Log Cabin, Being Good Stuarts of the Land & Animals, Leadership &Teamwork Development Projects, Games and much more. The lessons are reinforced even more through Group/Individual Discussions, Videos, Music, Reading/Journal Assignments, and Guest Speakers. There will also be opportunities for First Aid and CPR Certification. Location One of the most unique aspects of the camp is its location. Camp Iron Sights is hosted at Rainy Pass Lodge which is 125 air miles Northwest from Anchorage. You must fly in on a bush plane to get there. There is no cell phone service and satellite internet will not be accessible to the campers. It is very difficult to "disconnect" in today's world but by doing so the campers have an opportunity to get away from their everyday influences. This gives them time to reflect on their lives and consider changes that will set them on a better path. The internet and phone will be available for the counselors and parents to communicate and for emergency reasons. Rainy Pass Lodge is Alaska’s oldest hunting and recreation lodge and home of 'R5Sons, Alaska' a non-scripted television show.
