Camp Iron Sights was created to help form moral leaders in our next generation. To teach life skills that will empower our youth to overcome challenges and become positive contributors to the world around them. We want the next generation to be one that creates their own success (Become Makers) so that in turn they may give back to help others. We also want them to break the cycle of poverty and poor decision making that seems to get passed down generationally. 24 million children live in biological father-absent homes. Study after study shows the negative effects this has on children. We want to encourage more young men to be there when they have kids of their own some day.
Camp Iron Sights teachings are primarily based on Christian Principals and although we are not a religious camp we believe that true change comes from above. Our country was founded on Christian Principles and we believe it’s those principles that will help form the “Moral” base in our next generation of leaders.
Why we are called Camp Iron Sights: It's more than just a randomly chosen name.
- 'Iron Sights' are a type of sight on a firearm which for us represent the Wilderness Experience & Survival, Wildlife Conservation, Gun Safety, Archery, Water safety and Shooting parts of the camp.
- The 'Sights' is because we teach the youth how to set their sights on positive goals and not to settle for the status quo but instead that they can accomplish anything they set their minds to.
- The 'Iron' comes from Proverbs 27:17 'As Iron Sharpens Iron, So One Man Sharpens Another.' We believe that Association is one of the most powerful forces which will shape who you become.
