FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

IS THIS RETREAT SET UP AS A COUNSELING SESSION (Either as a group or individually?)
No, this retreat is not set up to dive directly into specific issues.  So, it is a safe and welcoming space, you will not be expected to share things you don't want to.  Each session will provide you with practical principles and tools to improve your marriage.  After each session you will have one on one time with your spouse to discuss how you can apply those to your relationship.  There will be a question-and-answer segment toward the end of the retreat if you want more help with certain situations.

DO WE BOTH HAVE TO BE CHRISTIANS TO ATTEND?
No, but this retreat is based on biblical principles, we will talk about God and how having a Christ-centered relationship is key to a lasting marriage, but we understand that everyone is in a different place in their walk with God so come as you are.

HOW MUCH TIME IS SPENT EACH DAY IN SESSIONS AND HOW MUCH TIME IN RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES?
This is set up as a casual, relaxing weekend so you will have plenty of down time together to reconnect.  There will be around 2-3 hours of sessions each day broken into different segments, along with a daily guided activity to do as a group if you wish to join in.  Things like hiking, horseback riding, and yard games.

WHAT KIND OF COUPLES SHOULD ATTEND THIS RETREAT?
Couples who want to strengthen their marriage and relationship.  Whether you're on the verge of divorce or just looking for a tune-up.  If you have any desire to salvage your marriage, you should consider this retreat.  Just because you attend this retreat does not mean you are on the verge of divorce.  Relationships take work and nurturing.  This is a great opportunity to strengthen your relationship before things start to deteriorate.

WHY DOES THE RETREAT COST $5000 PER COUPLE?
One of the reasons this retreat is so powerful is the location.  The remote Alaskan wilderness which surrounds Rainy Pass Lodge is healing and remarkable.  The lodge is over 100 miles from the nearest road; everything is flown in on bush planes which make it expensive.  A one-way charter flight costs $2000, food is about $150/day per person, Travel costs of your hosts, staffing, etc.  Normal 3-night trips to this luxury lodge retail at $6500 per person.  This specially discounted rate is just to cover the operating costs and offer this unique healing experience with the hopes of strengthening marriages for the betterment of our community.  We want it to be available to everyone, so we have some scholarships available as well as an in-town retreat at Change Point Church in Anchorage.
